Ronaldo: The best footballer

  1. Ronaldo — the phenomenon
  2. Zidane
  3. Maradona
  4. Ronaldo — CR7
  5. Ronaldinho or someone in the future

He will be my top choices for the following three reasons:
  1. Super dribbling skills and tricks to gain an advantage with the ball
  2. Phenomenal scoring as a striker (World cup + European + Other leagues)
  3. Successful record of helping his national team win the FIFA world cup
  4. Diversity — the capability to play in a diverse set of teams still maintaining success
  5. The versatility of playing:
    • Dexterity (eg, both leg vs one-legged player, head skill, chest skill)
    • Speed
    • Strength

None other in my top five comes close with the exception of Zidane who is close enough. Outside of my top five, not even close!

What a career! Played for the best clubs in the world and won titles for all of them all.
  • Inter Milan
  • AC Milan
  • Barcelona
  • Real Madrid
  • PSV Eindohoven

Won 1 Fifa world cup in 2002.
Another final against Zidane’s France 1998.
Another quarterfinal again lost to Zidane’s France 2006.
Second best top scorer in world cup games. Lost to Miroslav Close.

Q: The other Ronaldo (Christiano), is he better than you?
A: I don't know. Who knows. I did my job. He is still playing.
Even though he knows he is the best. What a humble person just see his reply!

Q: You would have been even better if you did not do so much party.
A: When it was possible to party, I did. But I never missed a training or a match because of a party. We still have to enjoy life.

Find me another player who can do this in addition to the skills set he possessed. I will gladly accept him/her as the best footballer of all time.

                                                     Ibrahamovic
                                                     Mourinho
                                                    Zidane
                                                     Marcelo Desailly

"There were two Ronaldos: the one that returned after long-term injury in 2002 was a great goalscorer, but the 1990s version was a great everything. At his fearsome peak for PSV, Barcelona, and Inter Milan he was arguably the most dangerous striker the world has ever seen."—Rob Smyth, The Guardian.

"Ronaldo is easily the best of the past 30 years, possibly ever. The other Ronaldo and Messi were brilliant teenagers but had nothing like the same impact at that age. Only Pelé, Diego Maradona and George Best can really compare."
—Rob Smyth, The Guardian (2016).

"Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers. They have remained at the top every day for 15 years. However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo." - Jose Mourinho

"Ronaldo is the best player I have ever played with. I have seen il Fenomeno do things nobody else has ever done." - Kaka (echoing with Zidane's comment)

I will see how many of the current chatterboxes remember "Messi" or "CR7" in 10 years' time. I have seen how Sachin Tendulkar (great cricket batsman) or Shah Rukh Khan (great movie star) has been treated after they were past their prime or retired.
