Honorable mentions are as follows.
- Shakuni: Shakuni and his father were imprisoned by Bhishma because of their resentment over the marriage of Gandhari to Dhritarashtra. They were given only a meager amount of rice each day—just enough to barely survive.
According to the legend, Shakuni’s father intentionally broke Shakuni’s leg so that he would always remember the insult for the rest of his life. Eventually, everyone else in the prison died because the small portions of rice were passed to Shakuni and his father so that they could survive.
This imprisonment story explains Shakuni’s deep hatred for the Kuru family and why he later spent his life manipulating events against them. Another dark legend connected to this story says that Shakuni’s famous dice were made from his father’s bones. It was believed that whenever Shakuni threw the dice with a wish, the outcome would turn in his favor.

This list excludes numerous supervillains from DC or Marvel comics with an exception of Joker who surpassed the boundary of the comic world in my opinion.
