Pythagoras - 'purpose of life'

Figure: The Tetractys is a triangular figure consisting of ten points arranged in four rows: one, two, three, and four points in each row. As a mystical symbol devised by Pythagoras.

  • Mathematics practiced as mystical reason, eg,  
    • Monad - number one - attributed to God

    • '10 was regarded as the "perfect number" and the Pythagoreans honored it by never gathering in groups larger than ten'. Pythagoreans devised 'Tetractys' a divine symbol.
