Visa application for Japan

The most straight forward and organized application I have completed so far. Last time I was really pissed off with the Canadian visa application process. It's too much. See the following:

  • Documents required:
    • Filled out visa application form (very precise and straight forward)
    • I-20 (for student)
    • I-94 page (can be printed online from USCIS website)
    • US visa page
    • 2x2 inch passport size photo ($15 quick service @CVS)
    • Passport
    • Bank statement
    • Travel itinerary (got it from an agent)
    • Hotel reservation for the duration mentioned in the itinerary
    • Additional documents:
      • Reason for invitation form filled out by the person in Japan
      • Inviting person's ID (passport or national ID)
      • Conference official schedule
      • Competition agreement letter for Amazon Robotics Challenge17
      • Competition team information
      • I made copy of my passport pages just to be on the safe side
      • My summer internship offer letter from US Army Research Lab, Adelphi, Maryland
  • During the submission they don't ask for processing fee ($27-$55). Only Cash. Only after the visa is granted they ask for money. Luckily for Bangladeshi applicants, there is no visa processing fee. Love you Japan :D
